Not long now before poets and potrylovers will gather for this year’s Festival. The Competition has had many entries and the short-listed poets have been notified. A very high proportion are coming to the Festival to read their chosen entries and the top prizes will be announced on Saturday 29th at the Competition Prize-giving Event.
Ticket sales are higher than usual this year and all the workshops are sold out. But in our spacious function room at the Livermead Cliff, there is still room for more people to come and enjoy the events on offer.
This year the International theme of the Festival seems to have caught the imagination of audiences. People are coming to learn about translating poetry, listen to poetry from around the world and buy international poetry books.
The evening events’ all offer a free glass of wine and during the day, tea/coffee and the famous shortbreads are included in the admission price to many events. The Festival’s aim of concentrating a packed schedule of events, mainly into one comfortable venue, has established an inspiring literary weekend by the sea with the added advantage of the beautiful English Riviera as a backdrop. Torbay is famous for sunshine … it also has a reputation for poetry.
We look forward to you joining us over the weekend.
With the exception of Thursday, all other events will take place in the Livermead Cliff Hotel, Sea Front, Torquay, TQ2 6RQ. Free car parking is available at the hotel and comprehensive disabled access.
