Giovanni Pascoli was an Italian poet and classical scholar. He used symbolic associations with nature to delve behind appearances. He wrote in both Italian and Latin, and translated English poetry. His originality influenced Montale and many subsequent poets.
Danielle Hope was born in Lancashire and now lives in London. She previously edited Zenos, a magazine of British and international poetry. She has had five books of poetry published and has given many readings both in the UK and abroad. This will be her first published book of translation. She is an Honorary Patron of the Festival.
